MOONROCK SEAS
I first went to this site with a specific idea for a
film, intending to shoot night scenes under cover
of moonlight. I realized very quickly that I was
attempting to impose my own vision upon the site,
rather than listening to what it was asking of me.
I considered what I could do with the footage I’d
gathered instead.
The result is a cinematic flipbook, printing a
sequence of stills to create a sense of motion. The
book is entirely printed black ink on silver paper
to evoke the silver materiality of the rock. I was
initially captivated by the shining silver of the site,
and the way the craggy rock shelf appeared like
moonrock; the book attempts to express this.
